About Caitlin E. Burke
Caitlin is an experienced trial attorney; handling more than 50 trials while employed by the Department of Children and Families. Caitlin is prepared to defend and pursue claims in court when necessary. Valuing the courts' and clients' time, Burke Law provides quality legal services and counsel to protect clients' interests and avoid future costs. Caitlin graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Florida. She majored in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism, with a specialty in Hospitality Management. Her honors thesis analyzed crime on cruise ships and the application of maritime law, and was recognized by HHP Magazine. Caitlin obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami, graduating Cum Laude on the University of Miami Law Review, and with a CALI Book Award for civil procedure. She was published in Volume 67; her article analyzed the validity of arbitration clauses in union-negotiated collective bargaining agreements. The Miami Law Review also presented Caitlin with Best Casenote Award of her analysis on Supreme Court decision Bruesewitz v. Wyeth. During law school, Caitlin worked for maritime personal injury law firm, Walker & O’Neill, P.A., interned at the City of Miami Beach, and provided research assistance to a sole practitioner. In her free time, Caitlin volunteered at HOPE Farm in Miami helping persons with disabilities gain valuable life skills through horsemanship. She also provided legal aid services to the indigent and homeless. Caitlin continues to serve under-represented populations since law school and her departure from the Department of Children and Families. She founded Youth Equity Project, Inc. to provide resources and lifestyle changes to youth in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Caitlin enjoys cycling, swimming, horseback riding, and yoga.
