About Joe M Mitchell Jr.
Former Assistant Public Defender and Assistant State Attorney, Joe Mitchell, Jr. has been in private practice since 1970. He earned degrees in History and Political Science from the University of South Florida and was awarded his Juris Doctor from Stetson University’s College of Law in Gulfport, Florida. Mr. Mitchell is admitted to the Florida Bar and the Bars of the United States District Court for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. He is also a member of the Brevard County Bar Association, Florida Justice Association, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
For many years, Board Certified Attorney Joe Mitchell Jr.’s practice involved mostly criminal defense, however, personal injury is now the primary focus of his practice.

Mr. Mitchell, a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator, is also a long-time supporter of many charitable organizations such as The Humane Society and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. His love of animals is evident not only by his generous support of these and many other organizations, but in his admiration for his own best friend, Vince, his black Labrador Retriever. He and his lovely wife, Darcy, are the proud parents of four wonderful children, all attorneys, and four grandchildren. Aside from his practice of law, Mr. Mitchell is an avid baseball and NASCAR fan, having been to every current major league park and attended races at all the current Sprint Cup Speedways.
