About Joey McCall
Joey M. McCall is the managing partner at McCall | Atten; he is a top-rated advocate of mass torts and class-action suits, recognized as one of the top 100 trial attorneys in America, and champion of community service and public assistance. His primary areas of practice are Mass Tort Litigation, Civil Litigation, NCAA compliance and athlete representation, and probono cases that involve helping under privileged children and families. From the moment he graduated law school, Mr. McCall has earned the reverence of clients and elite law organizations alike: he’s recognized as a SUPER LAWYERS rising star and was named a member of the National Trial Lawyers Association’s “40 Under 40” in 2015 and 2016. Prior to that, he earned a spot on the association’s list of “Top 100 Trial Lawyers” two years running. A powerhouse in the courtroom, Mr. McCall continues to impress his contemporaries with a robust record of favorable settlements and trial victories, including numerous suits on behalf of those affected by the BP oil spill disaster (Baton Rouge City Louisiana v. BP Exploration & Production Inc et al) , a claim against National General Insurance (Pierre Paul, Jason v. National General Insurance Co.) , securing an acquittal for a wrongfully-accused client (State of Florida vs. Dalvin J. Cook) & (State of Florida vs. Mark Walton) , and a putative class action against a large electronics manufacturer (St. Gregory Cathedral v. LG Electronics, Inc. Case No.: 12-CV-739). Mr. McCall fights for the underdog! This crusade to serve those less fortunate derives from his strong belief system and the understanding that every person deserves equal protection under the law. In continuing with his admirable campaign, Mr. McCall offers pro-bono legal representation to single student mothers in areas of family law, such as child custody, child support, and domestic disputes. Periodically he is asked how he finds the time and resources to take on a workload that provides no compensation, and to this he responds with the indelible words of George Bernard Shaw: “I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.” Shaw’s altruistic viewpoint is emblematic of Mr. McCall’s career—a journey defined by an unwavering commitment to the public good that began at an early age. To that end, Mr. McCall is a proud graduate of St. Thomas University School of Law and remains involved with his alma mater by acting as president of the Young Alumni Association and contributing as a member of the St. Thomas University School of Law Alumni Council. While in school he was the president of the mock trial team and led his teammates to winning two trial advocacy championships, including one for the Chester Bedell Trial Advocacy Competition. It was at this competition that Mr. McCall was named “Best Advocate,” a prestigious award that effectively ranked him as one of the top advocates in the country. Mr. McCall is a Coral Gables native, and he believes it is paramount to give back to his community—one that has given him so much-—by getting involved with professional organizations and networking societies. He currently serves on the C.O.P.E. South Miami-Dade County Schools Educational Excellence Committee.
