Lauren Canina Roberson joined the Law Office of Richard G. Canina in 2017, after serving as an Assistant Attorney General in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Born and raised in Brevard County, Florida, Lauren graduated from Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy and completed her undergraduate education at the University of Florida. Lauren completed her undergraduate degree in just two and a half years and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and a minor in Written and Oral Communication. While in college, Lauren served as an Ambassador to the College of Journalism and Communications and authored numerous articles, which were published in newspapers and publications across the state. For her achievements, Lauren was admitted to the Florida International University College of a Law as a Dean’s Merit Scholar. She received an academic scholarship and graduated cum laude. While in law school, Lauren served as an Editor for the FIU Law Review and competed as a member of the Moot Court Team. She was awarded “Best Orator” in the 2014 FIU Law Moot Court Competition and was a member of the winning team. During her second year, Lauren clerked at the Third District Court of Appeal in Miami, Florida, and interned at the Broward County Office of the Public Defender Felony Division in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. The following year, Lauren was awarded the “Excellence in Family Law Award” for her work with the FIU Family Law Clinic, as well as the “Book Award” for her demonstrated excellence in Advanced Legal Writing and Research. After law school, Lauren went to work as a civil prosecutor with the Florida Attorney General’s Office in Fort Lauderdale. While at the AG’s Office, Lauren litigated child dependency and termination of parental rights (TPR) cases on behalf of the State of Florida. She handled hundreds of child abuse, neglect, and abandonment cases, sitting first chair in dependency and TPR trials. As a civil prosecutor, Lauren worked closely with the State Attorney’s Office, Department of Children and Families, Law Enforcement, and the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice to help achieve permanency for Florida’s most vulnerable children. Throughout her legal career, Lauren has developed a passion for bringing peace to families in turmoil. Her dedication to representing the accused stems from her ability to focus on the “total person” and her loyalty to the people of Brevard County. Together with her father and brother, Lauren embraces every client as family to help them through life’s most difficult challenges.
