About Roger W Klaffka
Roger Klaffka practices in the areas of Estate Planning and Elder Law attorney, and is an Air Force veteran with over 25 years of military service. The youngest of seven children, Roger has a wealth of practical life experience working complex issues related to large families, aging, and estate planning. Roger’s experience, coupled with his law school concentration in Elder Law, equip him with the valuable skills needed to fulfill all your estate planning needs: wills, trusts, advance directives, guardianship, probate administration, trust administration, special needs planning, asset protection from long term care costs, use of VA Aid and Attendance, and available Medicaid benefit options. Inspired by his father’s WWII military service and internment as a Prisoner of War in Nazi occupied Germany, Roger followed his father’s footsteps and joined the Air Force upon graduating from high school. After completing his enlistment as an aircraft electrician, Roger attended Syracuse University on an Air Force ROTC engineering scholarship and returned to active duty as an aircraft maintenance officer. Roger’s military career took him from his hometown of Buffalo NY to assignments throughout the United States, Japan, Germany, England, Africa, the Balkans, and the Middle East. As a Squadron Commander, Roger gained a vast working knowledge of military law and the military justice system while his assignments as a staff officer at both Headquarters Air Force Special Operations Command and the Pentagon expanded his skills in strategic planning. Roger retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from his last assignment at the Pentagon, Washington DC. Roger’s military honors include: Distinguished Graduate, military technical training and ROTC; recipient of the Harvey S. Smith Award for collegiate academic and military excellence; one of fifty Air Force officers selected for the prestigious Air Force Intern Program at the Pentagon; and recipient of General Lew Allen, Jr. Trophy for being the top aircraft maintenance officer in the Air Force. Roger’s academic credentials include Juris Doctor cum laude, with a concentration in Elder Law, Stetson University College of Law; Master of Arts in Administrative Science from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C.; and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Syracuse University. During law school, Roger completed significant legal work at the Gulfcoast Legal Services Elder Law Clinic; the Sixth Judicial Circuit Prosecution Clinic; the Federal Public Defender for the Middle District of Florida, and the U.S. Department of Justice Elder Justice Initiative. Roger is a member of the Brevard County Bar Association, the Military Officers Association of America, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Air Commando Association, Sigma Gamma Tau National Aerospace Engineering Honor Society, and Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honor Society.
